Repealing the Property Tax Increase

Last year, Greenville County Council passed a 7-mill tax increase. I suspect you noticed.

Greenville County's revenue has been rising steadily in recent years, and this tax increase was not necessary. I plan to fight for a repeal of this tax increase—and more sensible spending throughout the budget—so that you can keep your hard-earned dollars.

Focusing on the Core Functions of Government

Greenville County Council's core responsibilities are four:

  • Public safety
  • Public order
  • Infrastructure
  • Growth management

We need to make sure our police and emergency responders are staffed and outfitted to do their work. We need to make sure the routine duties of county government—including such varied things as courts, recording of deeds, and zoning enforcement—are carried out efficiently. Infrastructure needs to be a prerequisite to growth, not an afterthought. And we need to make sure that we are sensible when it comes to managing the rapid growth of Greenville County.

The other functions of county government should be evaluated and funded to the extent they are needed and appropriate, with a view to reining in spending.

Supporting what is Good, Moral, and Constitutional

Conservative Republicans stand for limited government, but we also need to speak out for what is good and right. We must keep porn out of our public libraries. We must refrain from infringing on people's God-given liberties. We must encourage noble work over government handouts. We must support our police and justice system. And we must root out corruption, fraud, and graft.

Greenville County is a great place to live. Let's make it even better.
